History of Kolej Poly-Tech Mara



Kolej Poly-Tech MARA (KPTM), previously was as Kolej Yayasan Pelajaran MARA (KYPM) which was established as a private higher educational institution under the Private Higher Educational Institutions in September 2003. It was managed by Kolej Poly-Tech MARA Sdn. Bhd.  and it was fully owned subsidiary of Majlis Amanah Rakyat, KPTM offers a huge range of educational opportunities in the field of information technology, computer science, accounting, business management, engineering and health sciences.

KPTM’s was built through its excellent track record and the merging of 2 MARA’s renowned institutions i.e. Akademi Infotech MARA (AIM) and Kolej Yayasan Pelajaran MARA (KYPM). It has grown to be among the biggest Bumiputra private educational institution with more 12,500 full time students spread over 7 campuses in Kuala Lumpur as the main campus and branches in Bangi, Kuantan, Kota Bharu, Alor Setar, Ipoh and Batu Pahat.

NIGHT ELECTRONICS Week 8(25th February 2013 - 28th February 2013)



Assalamualaikum w.b.t  /hihi

So this will be my final week undergoing internship in Night Electronics. Doing internship here makes me experienced my self on how the real working world are like. Being here, I can learned many new things that I could never learn in other places. Being here also, I am able to make new friends and meet new people with many attitudes that I never met or faced before.

In this final week, my task goes as usual, doing filing, updating service form number into record, answering phone calls from customer and log report into the system. Nothing changed, its just the work load is getting decrease  since it is my final week here. Most of the filing job has been past to the staff in this department as they must continue all the task that i have done from now on.

On my last day here, 28th of February 2013,  Pn Suriati has make a special surprise for me by cooking Asam Laksa for the whole Helpdesk department. On this date also, Pn Zurina Mohd Nor, my supervisor from college has pay me a visit regarding undergoing internship in this company. During the visit, I has told her all the great experienced that I managed to gain for the past 2 months being in this company. I also are able to trained my self to managed my time wisely as I have to come to work during the day time and at the same time I still need to complete my assignment given by the college lecturer during the night.

On this final updates, I attach several picture that I've capture during 2 months period in Night Electronics. Picture of great people that treat me more like a family rather than only a practical student here. InsyaAllah all the good experience, memories and knowledge that I gained will be use wisely in the future, insyaAllah.

NIGHT ELECTRONICS Week 7(18th February 2013 - 22nd February 2013)




Assalamualaimum w.b.t  /hihi

This is my seventh week logbook update for my Summer Placement in Night Electronics.
A new task that was given to me this week is, I need to follow up with the technician whether they have attend jobs that has been assigned under their names and check what is the status for the job. Therefore, for all the job that I have added few days earlier, I need to call and check the status of the job with the technician, and then, it is my duty to write a remark into the system.

All cases that are already solved will be change it status to complete by the technician and it will then be assign back to Helpdesk department for the next step of progress.

  1. Open the job and check on the progress of the job. Check whether it is still "in progress", "internal repair", or "completed". 
  2. Next is to see who is the technician that is responsible for the job is it is still "in progress" or "internal repair"
  • Find the technician phone number in the user profile

  •  Call the technician and asked for the job progress, if it is "internal repair" asked them when it is send back to the office and how long would it take to fix the hardware.
  • Lastly update into the system. if it is complete, Helpdesk staff will closed the job, which means that the job is solved and user (customer) are satisfied.
    3.  Once the job is complete, we need to check for the customer SLA on time or not. 
   4 .  If there is no problem with customer SLA, then the job can be closed, else it need to be assign 
         to the hardware department.

NIGHT ELECTRONICS Week 6(11th February 2013 - 15th February 2013)




Assalamualaikum w.b.t   /hihi

On the 11th and 12th of February, it is public holiday as it is Chinese New Year. Therefore, the company is closed for 2 days. And it starts to operate normally back on the 13th of February 2013.

In this week, I was asked by Pn Mastura, my Head of Department in create a file on excel to register all the service form number. This is to help track back all the service number whether it is already been return to the company, or it is still with the technician. This is due to so many incident that happen which technician stated that they have already return all the service form to the office, however, the company didn't received any of it. It is also to identified whether the service form has already been send to other department such as quotation or finance department to  do claim for the months.

I asked Pn Mastura to do the excel form and stored it into PC, so it would be easy for us to track back the service form number which will help to save time. However, she insist to print it out and make a file for it. She said, by printing out a hardcopy, it would be an easy way for backup in case of data corrupt and no redundant.

This is how my sixth week ends.

NIGHT ELECTRONICS Week 5(4th February 2013 - 8th February 2013)

This entry will be my fifth week logbook update undergoing Summer Placement in Night Electronics. 

On the 7th of February 2013, for the first time I was asked to join the Helpdesk department monthly meeting. In this meeting, our Head of Department, Pn Mastura have expressed some things to criticize and advise us regarding on our attitude, attendance and punctuality. She also said there are few complains from the middle management regarding the report that been log into the system. Therefore, I was asked to make several file for the job detail in order to ensure that all the details collected from the customer are correct and complete.


Other than that, I also has give several opinion during the meeting session to overcome the problem. I told Pn Mastura that, every time collect details from the customer, it would be compulsory for us to repeat the details noted in order to avoid mistake in spelling or collecting details. other than that, it the report were given through emails, its a must for us to call and reconfirm back with the user regarding the error reported via emails, then only it can be proceed to log case into the system. 

As a conclusion, my week goes as usual by doing filing, adding job into the system and registering the serial number for each hardware in to the system.

NIGHT ELECTRONICS Week 4(28th January 2013 - 1st February 2013)

This is an update for my internship logbook for the fourth week in Night Electronics.

Other than doing filing, answering phone calls and add job in to the system, in this week, I was taught on how to register serial number for printer, projector, CPU, and UPS into the system. Each of the hardware has its own serial number for the technician to trace it whether it is the correct item that has problem.

Each hardware need to be registered first here first

Each job added has to have its own serial number and project code then only it is complete. Each serial number will has its detail, for example, it is for which company, what type is the hardware is, what company is it for, what is it brand and model and whether it is still on warranty or not.

Each project for each company consist its own Project code

Then, I also need to add the serial number to its project code and location. by doing so, then only I can add the job completely. Each of the serial number added will be stored in each project which is sort by their own customer and location. This is to ensure all the hardware supplied by Night Electronics are easy to be trace and track.

On the 1st of February 2013, it was a public holiday for our company because it is Federal Territory Day. Even Night Electroncis is located in Ampang, Selangor, the company follows the Wilayah off day.

NIGHT ELECTRONICS Week 3(21st January 2013 - 25th January 2013)

This is the third update for my logbook undergoing internship in Night Electronics for the third week.
As usual, I need to do filing for the service form that been sent by the technician, other than that, I was taught by my Head of Department on how to add job into the system. Add job means, to log cases that has been reported to the Helpdesk department whether through phone calls or email.

 The above figure shows a view when a job is already added, from here we can see who is the person in charged for each of the job added, and each of it has its own job number which represent each of the job.

Each of the job that need to be add into the system requires several important details, and the details are as listed below:
  • Caller name
  • Username
  • Location
  • Phone number
  • Problem
  • Serial number of the product
  • Model of the product
  • Brand of the product
All this details are collected  during the caller calls to make a report for the problem or via emails. It is required for all the details to be complete in order to make it easy to assign technician later.

A job that has been add would be assign to the technician for the technician to attend. In some cases, technician from NE are not send to do repairing, however, it requires the Helpdesk staff to call directly to the supplier for their engineer to attend, but Helpdesk staff need to follow up the case after 2 days to see whether the problem is solved or not.

Figure shows an update view for a job, this is where Helpdesk need to remark every updates of the job.

When technician from NE has attend the job, or engineer for supplier company has attend, the job would be completed and the case will be closed. Therefore, it's the Helpdesk job to update the remark regarding the job and to closed it.

Week by week my task load starts to increase, i have learned more about the company through the task specification given to me. I have also had experience my self though the real working world and I can clearly see most of the things I learned in Organizational behavior class.

From doing only filing for service form, I was asked to answer phone calls, and now my Head of Department has entrusted me to add job for problem reported to my department. This is how my task goes for the week.

NIGHT ELECTRONICS Week 2(14th January 2013 - 18th January 2013)

This is an update for my second week of undergoing internship in Night Electronics.
As usual, I was asked to do filing for the service form that is sent by technician everyday. Since NE have many branches Malaysian wide, therefore, I have to make sure that all the service form is well organize and it is file into the correct file.

One new thing that I have learn this week is, I was taught how to manage my planner. Planner is a system where I was required to do everyday to record attendance other than doing thumb print. Using this planner, the HR and Finance department are able to trace whether their staff is working on that day, or they are on leave.

Once an employee has already key-in their planner, it's required for the Head of the Department to approved, then only it can be declare he or she has attend on that particular day.

The above figure shows the image of Planner that I has completed for the past 8 week period of undergoing internship in Night Electronics. As it can be seen, the planner has mention the date, time, and status for the planner. From here, Head of Department, and HR management are able to detect for late comers, absenteeism and who is taking leave.

Other than completing planners, I also were asked to answer the phone, for people who would like to log cases regarding their electronics gadget. Normally, cases like printer runs out of toner, paper stuck, PC out of power supply and etc.

I was asked to take details regarding the caller and the problem that they are having so that it can be log into the system, and technician can be assign to do maintenance or repairing. There is nothing much to do also for the second week other than doing filing for the service form.

NIGHT ELECTRONICS Week 1(7th January 2013 - 11th January 2013)

I had officially starts my internship on the 7th of January 2013 in Night Electronics. I was asked to be at the office sharped at 8.30am by Pn Azliza, the HR manager. For the first day, i and the other 8 student form Kolej Poly- Tech Mara were given a briefing regarding the company profile, what the company actually runs, and the company rules and regulations. Then, we were given explanation on our monthly allowance and the claim that can be made for OT and traveling. Later, we were introduced by Pn Suriati regarding the company system and how to used it for attendance, applying leave, applying claims, adding jobs and etc.

After completing a few form form the company, we then only were brought to visit each of the department and being introduced to each of the staff there. Later, I was taken to my department which is the Helpdesk department and been introduced to my head and the other colleague.

For this first week, there is nothing much I was asked to do, as the head thought that the period for me to undergo internship at this company is too short and nothing much to be toughs. therefore, for this first week i was only asked to do filing for the service form that had been return from technician that already attend job.

I was required to separate the service form according to its location, date of the job been attended, and the service form number itself. It is required to be sort in increasing order, this is to ensure that it would be easy to be track back whenever the audit department need it to do quotation or there is any error occur regarding the job.

This is how my job goes for the first week.

Summer Placement in Night Electronics

Officially I had start my summer placement for my final year degree on the 7th of January 2013. So I was accepted to undergo my internship in Night Electronics (M) Sdn Bhd. For this summer placement, I was required to work at this company for 2 months in order to gain a real working world experiences and at the same time, I would be able to apply all knowledge that i have learned back in college to the working world.

Therefore, now on, I will update my working activity in this blog in order to replace my logbook for my summer placement to report all my daily activity and the task that I need to handle for my 2 months internship period.
